Maybe you’re in a slump or know deep down that you’ve accepted an average performance when a great one is possible. When you’re ready to change–to increase your sales, to take some calculated risks, to improve any and all aspects of your life–you may not know how to begin. What can you do differently to create more positive results in your work and personal life?

First, accept the fact that if you’re not getting the results you want in any aspect of your life, it just might be you! It’s not somebody else’s fault. To achieve real change in your results, decide that this is your year. You must believe in yourself and your ability to make change happen. When you do, you’ll find that your belief naturally leads you to take action, and action is the only thing that brings results.

How to Begin
True change requires you to develop clear reasons why you won’t fail yourself and your family. So when you know what drives you, write it down. This process requires introspection, which you may not be used to, but in order for it to work, you need to take the time to quietly consider every aspect of your life (past, present and future) and commit it to paper.

To embark on this process, consider the following:

Step 1: Where have you been? If you feel as if disappointing results are your destiny, they will be until you’re able to see the behaviors that lead to those results. So take 10 minutes to reflect on your accomplishments and your disappointments, big and small, and then write everything down. Consider and answer these questions for your career, family, health, faith, self-education, finances and recreation/fun.

What accomplishments am I most proud of?

What specific results have I achieved?

Have I been willing to do what I know it takes to do better?

What have been my biggest disappointments?

What did I learn from my disappointments?

Step 2: Where are you now? To change, you need to know where you are in the present moment, as well as where you’ve been. Make an honest written assessment of where you are in your life right now in the areas listed above. Where have you lowered the bar and accepted it? Think in terms of keeping score and getting clear on the actual numbers you have right now. Look at the truth! Getting disgusted with your current situation is a heck of a motivator.

Another area to be honest about is your personal health. Health and energy level is the Achilles heel for most people. The number-one killer in the nation is heart disease, and almost half those who have a heart attack die from their first one. So you can see the necessity of getting honest with yourself right now about your heath, as well as other aspects of your life. To draw a detailed health picture, go to a professional and find out:

What’s my current weight compared to where I want to be?

What are my blood pressure, cholesterol level, triglyceride level, and EKG readings?

What’s my standing heart rate? Can I run a mile? How quickly do I recover after exercise?

How often do I work out a month? Am I too tired at the end of the day to enjoy myself?

Step 3: Where do you want to go? Allow yourself to fantasize about what specifically you want most in your life. First consider what you’d like to do immediately, then in the near future. What are the top specific, measurable outcomes you’d like to achieve within those time frames? Look to clarify and raise your personal standards of conduct. Make sure you have each of the key areas represented. It’s not the quantity, but the quality of the goals you set!

To give you an idea of the types of quality questions you should be asking yourself, take a look at the following examples of questions a person in sales should be asking themself to establish short- and long-term goals:

  • What am I committed to earning this year?
  • What percentage of my sales are from referrals?
  • How many new prospects will I contact a day? How many current clients will I contact?
  • How can I better document my successes with testimonial letters, quotes, and pictures?
  • What company award and/or incentive trip am I committed to winning?
  • What will I do each day to enhance my expert status and give more value to my clients?
  • Have I been doing what it takes to be great or have I been making excuses and fighting to be average?

Step 4: What’s my action plan and tracking method? Break your bigger goals into monthly and even weekly achievable steps. But keep in mind that the time-worn old advice to take gradual “baby steps” is seldom effective; you’ll get frustrated and discouraged if your new results don’t come quickly enough. Be bold! Making more radical changes will simply yield quicker results and establish forward momentum.

Next, create a goal sheet and action plan in any format that suits you: a time line; a monthly calendar with target dates and notes; pictures of the outcome you want with a simple list of the steps it’ll take to get there; or any other creative format that works for you. Make it easy to review your goals and higher personal standards daily by laminating your action plan and putting it in your shower, on your bathroom mirror or in your briefcase for easy daily review.

Radical changes you can make for better results include:

  • Take the time to write down why you’re committed to sticking with these radical changes. Focus on the joy of when you make the change, not the fear of failing. Write at least a paragraph to yourself. What kind of person do you want to be? How will you behave to become that person?Get up 30 minutes earlier at least four days a week for aerobic exercise.
  • Make 10 prospecting calls for new business every day by noon.
  • Contact three past customers every day and ask questions to uncover new opportunities.
  • Send one hand-written card a day to keep in touch with clients or praise an employee.
  • Limit fast-food intake to once a week. Bring a small cooler of healthy food to work/in your car.
  • Eliminate soda from your diet. Eat seven to nine servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
  • Focus only on the positive things your family’s doing or has done the first 30 minutes at home.
  • Write a written outcome before you make every sales presentation. Tape it and review.
  • Take the time to write down why you’re committed to sticking with these radical changes. Focus on the joy of when you make the change, not the fear of failing. Write at least a paragraph to yourself. What kind of person do you want to be? How will you behave to become that person?

The Rewards of Change
Whether you make change happen or not, it’s going to happen; that’s the way life is. And the results of passively waiting to see what happens next–of letting life decide for you–can be completely opposite from what you’d choose for yourself. Don’t wait for a crisis!

While making a radical change can be an intimidating prospect at first, the rewards are many and will come quicker than you might imagine. When you’re in control of your destiny, you’ll look back on your decision to change and realize it was the moment everything began to change. Mastering the ability to confront reality and make a change isn’t just a key strategy for business; it’s a necessity for life and perhaps the one skill most worth learning.

If you’re ambitious, you’re bound to feel like a failure from time to time. Lofty goals lead to inevitable moments when you aren’t yet living up to your expectations.

We live in a world that reinforces this feeling. Though most people won’t admit it — other than the guy with the ‘He who dies with the most toys wins’ bumper sticker — in the back of our minds, we equate material possessions with success.

It’s a shame we fall prey to materialistic thinking because we certainly know better. A study by Strayer University found that 90% of Americans believe happiness is a bigger indicator of success than power, possessions or prestige. Digging a little deeper, 67% defined success as “good relationships with friends and family,” and 60% said it is loving what you do for a living. Only 20% stated that monetary wealth determines success.

But saying and doing are two very different things.

When it comes to success, our eyes often lead us astray. It’s hard not to feel like the most successful people are those with the biggest houses, the most expensive cars, and the most influential friends. Regardless of what you achieve, there’s always someone with more, and this can make you feel like you’re losing. The problem isn’t your lack of toys; it’s believing that toys indicate true success.

Real success is about who you are and how far you’ve come. If you ever worry that you’re not as successful as you should be, you may be evaluating yourself against the wrong criteria. Sometimes you just need a reminder as to what you’ve really accomplished in life. The success indicators that follow will help you do just that.

1. You’re no longer the center of the universe. We all know “successful” people who act like they’re the center of the universe. It’s their world and the rest of us just live in it…right? That’s not success. True success requires the ability to feel empathy — to realize that other people’s feelings and dreams are just as important as ours, and we cannot succeed without them.

2. You stay positive. Hope and optimism are essential components of a happy life. If you dwell on the things that go wrong, you become bitter and resentful. When that happens, you fail — no matter what you may have achieved. Real success means always seeing the bright side and believing you have the power to make even the worst situations better.

3. You know that failure isn’t forever. You’ve learned that the only people who never fail are those who don’t try. When you fail, you don’t automatically assume that you’re a failure. Instead, you embrace each failure as an opportunity to learn something — and then you move on. If you still struggle with this at times, know that you’ll never experience true success until you learn to embrace failure. Your mistakes pave the way for your success by revealing when you’re on the wrong path. The biggest breakthroughs typically come when you’re feeling the most frustrated and the most stuck. It’s this frustration that forces you to think differently, to look outside the box and see the solution you’ve been missing.

4. You keep things in perspective. Sometimes bad things happen. It’s part of life. For most of us, however, our very worst day would seem like a vacation to somebody who has real problems — like not having enough to eat, or trying to survive a civil war. Locking your keys in the car — or even getting passed over for a promotion — aren’t that bad once you learn to develop perspective. If you’ve mastered the ability to keep your problems in perspective, mark it down as a huge success.

5. You ask for help when you need it. Refusing to ask for help, no matter how much you’re struggling, is a sign of emotional immaturity. Asking for help means that you no longer feel like you have something to prove by being perfect. It shows you aren’t afraid of people discovering your weaknesses and you understand no one succeeds alone.

6. You realize that life isn’t a zero-sum game. It’s not a see-saw, either. Just because somebody else achieves a big success, that doesn’t mean you suffer a loss in equal proportion. You just didn’t win that particular time. One sure sign of success is the ability to celebrate others’ achievements with sincere enthusiasm.

7. You can tell the difference between drama and excitement. Remember the days when stable relationships were boring, and you quickly got tired of anyone who treated you as they should? If that kind of “drama” is a thing of the past, congratulations. If you prefer stability and depth to drama, you’re succeeding.

8. You no longer care what other people think. You only worry about what other people think when you still feel like you have something to prove. Conversely, you know you’ve “made it” when you don’t worry about that anymore — when you’re true to yourself and your principles, and satisfied with your life. You know you’ve made it when you understand that other people’s opinions are just that — opinions. They have no effect on reality. They don’t change who or what you are.

9. You accept what you can’t change and change what you can. There’s a difference between pessimism and practicality. If there’s a hurricane headed your way, there’s nothing you can do to stop it. But once you accept that the hurricane is coming, you can start working to mitigate its effects. If your company downsizes and you get laid off, every moment you spend in denial just delays whatever is waiting over the horizon. You’re able to move on only when you start exploring your options and making plans to change what you can. Taking responsibility for changing the things you don’t like about your life is one of the biggest indicators of success.

Bringing It All Together

There’s no sense in feeling like a failure just because you think you should have a better job, a bigger house, or a nicer car. Real success comes from the inside, and it’s completely independent of circumstance.

While downtime is vital for the preservation of our health, you cannot dismiss the fact that there are meaningful activities you can be involved in, even when resting. This takes multitasking to a whole new dimension.

Here are six things you can do in your idle time:

1. Record your goals.
To be successful at anything, you must first set clear goals of what you want to achieve. People who write down their goals are far more likely to achieve them than those who simply think about a goal, or those who have no goal at all.

This will also save you a lot of time in the future. If you use your spare time to clearly record your daily and long-term goals, it will eliminate other distractions and give you an objective to focus on. Hence, time that would otherwise be spent on mindless diversions will be converted into productive time.

As you complete your goals, cross them off your list to give you a greater feeling of accomplishment.

2. Listen to audio books.
Acquiring new knowledge never loses its value, and we should never really stop learning until we die. The increase in technology has made it convenient to acquire information and with a wide variety of audio books that can be borrowed from the library at no cost or downloaded with the click of a button, you can listen and learn while traveling, exercising, or even relaxing on the beach. It is a simple as having someone read a book for you, at your convenience.

 

3. Learn another language.
As with audio books, technology has made it quite simple to learn a new language. Gone are the days when it was necessary to sit in a classroom. With CDs, downloads, and podcasts you can begin your journey to becoming bilingual (or multilingual). As an added bonus, knowledge of other languages will make you more marketable.

 

4. Check up on your loved ones.
Because productive people are often very busy, they may find it difficult to find the time to spend with friends and family. As a matter of fact, it is easy for productive people to become so caught up in the goal of getting ahead that they can forget about their loved loves in the process. Although it may not be possible for you to spend all the time you want with your loved ones, using your idle time to touch base with them over the phone, or even in a handwritten note or card, will help bridge the gap.

 

5. Get moving.
No matter how busy you are, you need to exercise if you want to live long enough to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Do some squats or lift hand weights while talking on the phone, or use your lunch break to walk around the neighborhood.

 

6. Give Back
Part of happiness comes from serving others, so instead of watching TV, help someone learn to read, serve dinner in a soup kitchen, or help an elderly person with their errands. These activities are not overly demanding of your time and provide a wealth of rewards.

Regardless of your workload, you are sure to have a few gaps here and there. Choose to spend your time wisely and make every second count.

What does it take to hold on to your genius through failures and disasters?

1. Find your passion. Passion will move you beyond yourself, beyond your shortcomings, your mistakes, and your failures. To succeed you have to believe in something with such passion that it becomes an unstoppable reality. At the core of every success is the belief born of passion.

2. Purposefully persevere. Success requires fearlessly facing storms, mistakes, and failures, and staying the course with perseverance. As Winston Churchill said, “If you are going through hell, keep going.” Perseverance is stubbornness with a purpose, and many of the great accomplishments of our time were achieved by tired and discouraged people who kept on working.

3. Tap into your potential. Potential becomes meaningful only when you do something with it, but sometimes our obsession with instant gratification blinds us to the long-term nature of that process. Continuous effort over time unlocks your potential, and strengthens you at the same time.

4. Transpire humility. Don’t be too proud of what you’ve attained–at the end of the day, success is measured not so much by the position you reach as by the failures and obstacles you overcome. It’s when the world has pushed you to your knees that you’re in the perfect position to get up and succeed.

5. Connect with people. Even if they work independently, no genius ever becomes successful on their own. At some point, someone brought them help, inspiration, or strength. Whether it’s for a moment, a day, or a lifetime, the people who come into your life can teach you, help you, and influence you. We need people who can help us get up when we fall and show us the way out when we fail. And when they come along, we need to accept their assistance.

6. Purge old bad patterns. We all have patterns in our lives–some positive, some destructive. Most start slowly and develop so gradually that they can be hard to perceive. It’s important to grow in awareness so you can recognize unhelpful patterns and replace them with new ones that feed your success. As Aristotle said, we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

7. Power yourself with positivity. We all make mistakes; we all have struggles; we have all had failures and regrets. But we find power when we choose not to be defined by those things. Make sure who you are and what you do come from the power of positivity. Our mind is a powerful thing, and when we fill it with positive thoughts our lives start to change for the positive.

We can’t escape failure or run away from our mistakes, but we always have a choice. It is the right mindset that will give us the passion, the perseverance, the people, the potential, the humility, the connection, the new patterns, and the position for us to succeed.  If you expect the best, you will be the best. It really is that simple.

Being ruthless with emails means spending more time on the next step and less on organizing and sifting through endless emails. Honestly, if it’s really important, experience has taught me they either come and get you or pick up the phone.

Do it. I get focused. I’m not distracted, I don’t check my email, and I get in the zone to complete the tasks for the day. I often have post-it notes with each task on my desk and physically tick them off once a task is done. There is great satisfaction in actually completing something. Failure is never a positive feeling. Nevertheless, constantly trying to avoid failure is just as bad because it means you are unlikely to take the risks necessary to achieve success. Failure is not something to purposely seek out, but it’s certainly not something to fear if and when it does happen.

The statistics say that 90% of new businesses fail in the first five years. However, the studies say that focusing on statistics l

ike this only makes it more likely you will become a failure. Fail in the right areas and don’t obsess over setbacks.

The reality is failure does make better leaders, and here’s why.

 

To become a great leader in 2016 you have to be comfortable with things going wrong. Great leaders see them as learning opportunities, rather than setbacks. As long as you learn from the mistakes you make, failure is a worthwhile endeavor.

Failure Shapes Leaders

Someone who never fails either never takes risks or constantly finds a way to weasel out of responsibility. The greatest leaders in the world are shaped by failure. Take a look at tech executives, such as the co-founders of Google. They dropped out of college. Most would see that as a failure, and yet they created one of the historic companies.

The most rewarding decisions of your life will be shaped by how you react to failure.

Resilience to Run a Business

Resilience is how people react under pressure and how they bounce back from disappointment. The only way to gain this resilience is to dare to fail. There are no leaders who are born to be leaders. This is a disservice to the men and women who are good leaders as it simply dismisses their achievements as genetics, God, or some other force out of our control.

Failure will teach you resilience and how not to buckle when you experience difficult times.

Learn What Works

The only way to achieve the success you crave is to think outside the box. Copying what someone else has done will not make your business into the organization you want. It will only take you part of the way, as all innovators have realized.

To learn what works and what doesn’t you have to test. This is the number one rule of marketing, and it’s what crucial A/B testing is based around.

If you are unwilling to fail, you will never go through this process and you will never achieve the things you want to achieve, as a result. Accepting failure will push you to try things you have never tried before and potentially win big.

Better Employee Morale

There’s nothing worse than working for someone who believes they can do no wrong. Executives like these tend to always shift the blame to a lower manager, or to simply pretend a setback never happened. It’s not a good trait to have.

Employees who see that you as a leader can fail won’t look down upon you because of it. They will see it as a positive trait. It will encourage them to try new things because they know that if it goes wrong they aren’t going to lose their jobs over it.

Some of the best corporate ideas around have come not from leaders but from the people working under them.

Of course, this is no reason to actively seek out failure. Someone who fails repeatedly without success is simply a bad leader.

Who has Your Back?

Take a startup company as an example for this section. Everyone starts working in good faith. They all love the product and they all believe they can succeed. Then a major setback happens, such as having a poor first release.

There are two sets of people at this point. One set will continue to work with the company and figure out where they went wrong. The other set will either walk out of the company or become snarky and unmotivated.

Failure has taught you who REALLY believes in what you are doing and who is going to bail when the going gets tough. You wouldn’t have known that unless something had gone wrong.

Conclusion

To become agreat leader in 2016 you have to be comfortable with things going wrong. Great leaders see them as learning opportunities, rather than setbacks. As long as you learn from the mistakes you make, failure is a worthwhile endeavor.

It will help you make the tough decisions and better appreciate your responsibilities as a leader. Countless organizations have turned themselves around simply because a big failure made them change their way of thinking.

There are a ton of qualities that can help you succeed, and the more carefully a quality has been studied, the more you know it’s worth your time and energy.

Free- Focus on Work

Angela Lee Duckworth was teaching seventh grade when she noticed that the material wasn’t too advanced for any of her students. They all had the ability to grasp the material if they put in the time and effort. Her highest performing students weren’t those who had the most natural talent; they were the students who had that extra something that motivated them to work harder than everyone else.

Grit is as rare as it is important. The good news is any of us can get grittier with a little extra focus and effort.

Angela grew fascinated by this “extra something” in her students and, since she had a fair amount of it herself, she quit her teaching job so that she could study the concept while obtaining a graduate degree in psychology at UPenn.

Her study, which is ongoing, has already yielded some interesting findings. She’s analyzed a bevy of people to whom success is important: students, military personnel, salespeople, and spelling bee contestants, to name a few. Over time, she has come to the conclusion that the majority of successful people all share one critical thing—grit.

Grit is that “extra something” that separates the most successful people from the rest. It’s the passion, perseverance, and stamina that we must channel in order to stick with our dreams until they become a reality.

Developing grit is all about habitually doing the things that no one else is willing to do. There are quite a few signs that you have grit, and if you aren’t doing the following on a regular basis, you should be.

1. You have to make mistakes, look like an idiot, and try again, without even flinching. In a recent study at the College of William and Mary, they interviewed over 800 entrepreneurs and found that the most successful among them tend to have two critical things in common: They’re terrible at imagining failure and they tend not to care what other people think of them. In other words, the most successful entrepreneurs put no time or energy into stressing about their failures as they see failure as a small and necessary step in the process of reaching their goals.

2. You have to fight when you already feel defeated. A reporter once asked Muhammad Ali how many sit-ups he does every day. He responded, “I don’t count my sit-ups, I only start counting when it starts hurting, when I feel pain, cause that’s when it really matters.” The same applies to success in the workplace. You always have two choices when things begin to get tough: you can either overcome an obstacle and grow in the process or let it beat you. Humans are creatures of habit. If you quit when things get tough, it gets that much easier to quit the next time. On the other hand, if you force yourself to push through it, the grit begins to grow in you.

3. You have to make the calls you’re afraid to make. Sometimes we have to do things we don’t want to do because we know they’re for the best in the long-run: fire someone, cold call a stranger, pull an all-nighter to get the company server back up, or scrap a project and start over. It’s easy to let the looming challenge paralyze you, but the most successful people know that in these moments, the best thing they can do is to get started right away. Every moment spent dreading the task subtracts time and energy from actually getting it done. People that learn to habitually make the tough calls stand out like flamingos in a flock of seagulls.

4. You have to keep your emotions in check.Negative emotions will challenge your grit every step of the way. While it’s impossible not to feel your emotions, it’s completely under your power to manage them effectively and to keep yourself in a position of control. When you let your emotions overtake your ability to think clearly, it’s easy to lose your resolve. A bad mood can make you lash out or stray from your chosen direction just as easily as a good mood can make you overconfident and impulsive.

5. You have to trust your gut. There’s a fine line between trusting your gut and being impulsive. Trusting your gut is a matter of looking at decisions from every possible angle, and when the facts don’t present a clear alternative, you believe in your ability to choose; you go with what looks and feels right.

6. You have to give more than you get in return.There’s a famous Stanford experiment where an administrator leaves a child in a room with a marshmallow for 15 minutes, telling the child that she’s welcome to eat the marshmallow, but if she can wait until the experimenter gets back without eating it, she will get a second marshmallow. The children that were able to wait until the experimenter returned experienced better outcomes in life, including higher SAT scores, greater career success, and even lower body mass indexes. The point being that delay of gratification and patience are essential to success. People with grit know that real results only materialize when you put in the time and forego instant gratification.

7. You have to lead when no one else follows. It’s easy to set a direction and believe in yourself when you have support, but the true test of grit is how well you maintain your resolve when nobody else believes in what you’re doing. People with grit believe in themselves no matter what and they stay the course until they win people over to their way of thinking.

8. You have to meet deadlines that are unreasonable and deliver results that exceed expectations. Successful people find a way to say yes and still honor their existing commitments. They know the best way to stand out from everyone else is to outwork them. For this reason, they have a tendency to over deliver, even when they over promise.

9. You have to focus on the details even when it makes your mind numb. Nothing tests your grit like mind-numbing details, especially when you’re tired. The more people with grit are challenged, the more they dig in and welcome that challenge, and numbers and details are no exception to this.

10. You have to be kind to people who have been rude to you. When people treat you poorly, it’s tempting to stoop to their level and return the favor. People with grit don’t allow others to walk all over them, but that doesn’t mean they’re rude to them, either. Instead, they treat rude and cruel people with the same kindness they extend to anyone else, because they won’t allow another person’s negativity to bring them down.

11. You have to be accountable for your actions, no matter what. People are far more likely to remember how you dealt with a problem than they are how you created it in the first place. By holding yourself accountable, even when making excuses is an option, you show that you care about results more than your image or ego.

Bringing It All Together

Grit is as rare as it is important. The good news is any of us can get grittier with a little extra focus and effort.

‘Tis the season to be…stressed. If you’re reading this blog, most likely you’re doing so on a smartphone while flying by the seat of your pants, trying to meet deadlines and end-of-year sales goals. Your email inbox is overflowing, and the pressure to plan (or attend) all those delightful holiday parties may be sending you to the edge. This is the uncomfortable truth: It’s normal to feel overwhelmed during this time of year.

But how, among all these challenges, do you close out the year strong?

If there’s anyone who has mastered the art of keeping a team focused, it’s Nick Saban, head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Saban has won three championships with the Tide and he’s currently in the national championship hunt again. He credits the success to his “Process,” a simple yet effective method of breaking down goals into manageable, bite-sized pieces…especially in challenging times. You don’t have to like Saban or Alabama to learn from him.

Some of his tips:

1 – Focus on the moment at hand

Saban framed the “Process” when he was coaching at Michigan State. Shortly before playing No. 1 ranked Ohio State, Saban told the Spartans to focus on executing the next play and not to worry about winning. The outcome: Michigan State upset the Buckeyes 28-24, giving Saban one of the first major wins in his storied career.

This is a simple yet profound tactic. Humans spend too much time thinking about past mistakes or way-in-the-future events; such micro-focus can have paralyzing effects on a team. Saban teaches his players to win the moment— it’s not about what was accomplished in the past and tomorrow isn’t promised for anyone. Winning is about the present.

2 – Eliminate the clutter

Saban’s “Process” depends on clarity, not messiness. “Eliminate the clutter and all the things that are going on outside and focus on the things that you can control,” he shared in interview with the New York Times.

If you are having difficulty with goal completion, consider cutting down all non-essentials from your time and focus. You can start by examining your email, desk and even the upcoming list of meetings on your calendar—whatever isn’t contributing to your primary goal needs to be reassessed…or dropped altogether.

3 – Champions have mental toughness and discipline

Saban’s Crimson Tide have endured more than just the SEC’s blistering defenses, but also face media scrutiny and the constant pressure to succeed to annually high expectations. Like many of the Great leaders in sports, Saban refers to adversity as a “friend” and credits mental toughness with helping his team face challenges. He often tells his players that the majority of people avoid the things they don’t like to do, but the Great Ones make a daily choice to face difficulties head on.

Most people have trouble accomplishing their goals because it’s very difficult to maintain the laser-focus required to reach them. This is especially true during the holiday season—one of the busiest times of the year. (Right now I am planning a holiday trip with my family, finishing the editing of a new book on the habits of great teams, and post-release marketing on my current release “Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates”…yes, I’m feeling it!)

Consistent winners know what it takes to handle each day’s business with authority. Success in crucial moments depends on sticking to your game plan, blocking out all distractions and facing adversity head on —that’s what the Great ones do.

Hopefully all of you are well on your way to completing some amazing goals in 2015, and will make 2016 even greater.
